To ensure a visit at the desired time and to avoid waiting times, we recommend that all visitors purchase their tickets online with an admission time slot via München Ticket.Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to book tickets for groups at the ticket desk in the museums. Please use the online ticketing for this purpose as well. You can find all information here:

With an incidence value below 50, it is no longer obligatory to book in advance. As visitors still need to maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 metres, the visitor capacity in museums of the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen is limited. Remaining tickets can be purchased at the museum ticket office. However, there may be longer waiting times.

During your visit its mandatory to wear a FFP2 mask. For children and young people from age 6 to 15 we also accept usual nose and mouth protections. Furthermore as a visitor it`s necessary to adhere to our general hygiene measures.

Neue Pinakothek
From 31 December 2018 on the Neue Pinakothek is closed to the public for structural reasons and in preparation for a comprehensive renovation scheme. A selection of masterpieces of 19th-century art is on show on the groundfloor of the Alte Pinakothek (East Wing) and in the Sammlung Schack.

Special Opening Times on Public Holidays

On public holidays, the three Pinakotheken, Museum Brandhorst, and Sammlung Schack are usually open at the times that regularly apply for that day of the week. Exceptions to this rule are announced in advance. In rare instances opening hours are subject to change; please check the website for public announcements closer to the date.

All our museums are open on the following public holidays:

Easter (Good Friday to Easter Monday)
Ascension Day (Christi Himmelfahrt) (21.05.20 | Pinakothek der Moderne and Museum Brandhorst close already at 6 p.m.)
Whitsun (Whit Sunday and following Monday)
Day of German Unity (Tag der Deutschen Einheit)
Boxing Day (26 December) (26.12.20)
New Year’s Day (1 January) (01.01.22)
Epiphany (Heilige Drei Könige, 06.01.22 | Pinakothek der Moderne and Museum Brandhorst close already at 6 p.m.)

Special opening hours apply for the following holidays in 2020:
Corpus Christi (Fronleichnam, 13.06.21): all galleries open (Pinakothek der Moderne and Museum close already at 6 p.m.)
Feast of the Assumption of May (Mariä Himmelfahrt, 15.08.20): all galleries open
All Saints (Allerheiligen, 01.11.20): all galleries closed
